Bay Area Women Against Rape is proud to announce its new project, Men Overcoming Sexual Assault (MOSA).
MOSA's central program will be a telephone crisis line with two primary client populations; men who have been sexually assaulted, and the significant others (friends, family, spouses, etc.) Of any sexual assault survivor. Following the model of BAWAR's highly successful crisis line, MOSA's crisis line will eventually have counselors available twenty-four house a day to answer calls, and to accompany survivors and their significant others to police interviews and medical exams. The MOSA crisis line will be staffed exclusively by men, who will receive fifty hours of training and state certification.
MOSA is currently seeking donations and volunteers for training. Training is on-going and a new series will begin when the training has been filled. Following the training, we will ask for a commitment to the crisis line for nine to twelve months. The crisis line is now operating on a limited basis. Please call Charlie Glickman at (510) 465-3890 with questions, inquiries or referrals. Donations can be made through BAWAR, a 501C (3) non-profit organization.
