Online Communications Assessment
In early 2003, I created an online communications assessment tool for NPower's suite of online assessments called TECHATLAS (which also includes technology, database and staff training assessments). In addition, I maintain my own copy of the communications assessment that can be modified for the needs of particular clients.
Nonprofits as well as the consultants and services that support nonprofits are invited to try out this assessment. While use of the online assessment is free, I offer additional, strategic consulting to assist your organization in using the tool to its fullest.
I am also developing curriculum for using this assessment in a workshop setting, and am available to lead such workshops for organizations or for service providers.
In order to use the online communications assessment,
- You must have a TechAtlas account. This is free.
- If you're setting up a TechAtlas account for the first time, you'll be walked through a series of steps, including Mission, Tech Team, Tech Vision, Assessment, Review, Planning Center. These steps are not specific to the communications assessment, but part of TechAtlas' overall assessment process.
- If you have an existing account and/or have taken other TechAtlas assessments, the recommendations from the Communications Assessment will be added in with recommendations from any assessment you've already taken. Recommendations from different assessments will be grouped together by assessment.
- If you use my copy of the communications assessment, the default setting allows me -- Jillaine Smith -- to review the results of your assessment. While you can change this, and not give me access, I'd ask that you consider allowing me to see the results at this time in order to help me assess the tool's effectiveness. I will keep all details of your assessment confidential. If you want, you can change this access permission later.
